Office interior design is something a lot of people forget about, but it’s actually really important. I mean, we spend like 8 hours or more in office, so why not make it a place that doesn’t feel like a prison, right? A good design can make work less stressful and maybe even fun sometimes.
So first thing is furniture. Chairs gotta be comfy otherwise you end up with back pain and nobody wants that. Desks need to be big enough to fit your laptop, mouse, coffee cup, and all the mess you somehow accumulate during the day. Also, don’t cram too much stuff or you’ll feel suffocated.
Colors are tricky. Bright colors can be energizing but sometimes too much yellow or red just gives me headache. Lots of offices go with blue or gray which is safe but kinda boring. I guess it depends on what vibe the company wants — chill or energetic.
Lighting is often ignored but it’s super important. Natural light is best but many offices don’t have windows, which sucks. So at least good artificial lights that don’t make your eyes hurt. Oh and plants! They make the place look less like a dungeon and maybe help with stress too.
About layout — open offices are “in” but honestly they can be noisy and distracting, especially if your coworkers talk too much or on phone all day. Cubicles give privacy but feel kinda lonely. I think having some quiet zones plus areas for group work is best, but that’s hard to get right.
One big mistake I see is clutter everywhere. Papers, cables, random stuff on desks make the place look messy and unprofessional. So shelves, organizers and stuff are really necessary.
At the end of the day, office design should be about people who work there not just looking fancy. If employees feel good, they work better — it’s simple.
